The iPad 2 is upon us. We wanted to create a page for you to bookmark and come back to as we will be sharing iPad 2 Resources, Rumors and Information. There are already stories being written and reported on and of course there are rumors as to what it will have or not have.
We do not know the official name of the next generation iPad but for now we will call it iPad 2. It could be iPad Pro for all we know but it will interesting to see how Apple names the successor to the current iPad model.

If you were hoping for some new iPad 2 rumors for Christmas then you’re in luck as an anonymous source in China has spilled the beans on some new design features of the device. The new chatter says that the case will be noticeably smaller than the current iPad and will have a flat back instead of a convex one, taking after the latest generation of the iPod touch. It is also noted in the report that leaked photos show neither a USB port or SD card slot which would not be surprising though may disappoint some who were hoping for this long rumored feature.
The new case will supposedly measure 239mm x 186mm, a tad smaller than the current case with its 242.8mm x 189.7mm dimensions. Other notable changes include a smaller bevel around the screen and wide ranging speakers for improved audio quality. The 3G model will have the antenna in the same place as the current iPad and the ambient light sensor is said to have moved to the upper center of the back of the case with a slim 3mm hole. In addition to this new information the source of the rumor, as does everybody else at this point, thinks that the new tablet will come with two cameras. The rear-facing one is said to be 5mp.
Rumors about the iPad come and go and some of them are bound to fulfill their own prophecies though it isn’t the first time it’s been said that Apple will be adding a new case to its renewed product. Previous chatter has suggested that the iPad 2 will feature an all new carbon fibre casing. More reliable whispers have named component suppliers Foxconn who were also said to have received notice from Apple that the iPad 2 would be ramping up production around March aiming for an April release.

DigiTimes release a report saying that the Chinese manufacturing plants will be building between 400,000 and 600,000 iPad 2 units that are rumored to be shipped out within the next 100 days.

iPad 2 Backlighting supplier Tracked down – This seems to confirm that the iPad 2 will NOT have the AMOLED and instead have the current type of display which is LCD.

Telecomyatra reports that the iPad 2 will likely have dual core chips. If this is true, then that means the iPad will be a lot faster and the first mobile device by Apple to have this ability.
iPad 2 rumored to sport smaller bezel, flat back, and wide-range speakers. Network world is confirming more rumors that the next generation iPad (iPad 2) will indeed have a nice flat back and some sort of wide-range speakers.

Word just came in that Apple has ordered all their Holiday Staff to stay put until the end of January…this usually means one thing: there is a new product coming. Now, most would say it’s iPad 2 but we don’t even know if it will be ready to ship and “in stores” by the time there is an announcement. Regardless, this is great news and the best news would be if Apple decided to announce it and then have it available on the day of the announcement!

Some more great iPad 2 news today. This time the focus is on the iPad 2 memory. There are rumors flying that a mockup iPad 2 was seen at the latest CES show in Las Vegas which had “128 GB” etched on the back of it. Now no one really knows if this was in fact real (which is probably was not real, obviously) but the speculation of 128GB as an SSD would mean the iPad 2 will be quite a bit more expensive than the current iPad.
One other story that surfaced over the past weekend was the rumor of the next gen iPad 2 to be arriving in 3 – 4 weeks. Here is the text of that rumor:
“According to Digg founder Kevin Rose, Apple will be announcing the new iPad 2 within the next three to 4 weeks, with a possible date of February the 1st being rumored as when it will be announced.
Rose went on to say that the iPad 2 would feature a Retina display, something which we have heard rumors about before, but then after speaking to another source Kevin Rose said that the iPad 2 wont feature a Retina display, but instead a higher resolution display than the first generation iPad.”
